I often work with a quotation requested by a client (or some thought that appeals to my own sense of artistry) that I use as a design element in a more elaborate painting. On the other hand, I occasionally present a quotation in the form of what I call "simple elegance," letting the words themselves and the letterforms that I use to depict those words have "center stage."
